COLLISION INVOLVING POLICE CRUISER

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a collision involving a Grey County OPP cruiser. The collision occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., this morning, Tuesday, January 28, 2014, on Hwy. 21 west of Grey Rd. 3 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The officer responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy. 21. The officer was sitting in the parked cruiser when an eastbound van struck the cruiser from behind. The officer was taken to hospital as a precaution. The driver of the van was not injured.

At approximately 12:53 p.m. the disabled, unattended cruiser was struck by a second eastbound vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.

OPP are urging motorists not to travel until weather/road conditions approve. There are a number of road closures throughout Grey County OPP jurisdiction. Motorists are asked to respect the closures and avoid these roads.
