Colby ROBERTS – Methamphetamine, 2x Breach, Drive While Suspended

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 22 year old male driver is facing several charges after a traffic stop was conducted on August 26, 2014. At approximately 12:10 a.m. a Honda Civic entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of London Road and Blyth Road. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers noticed a headlight was burnt out on the Honda so an investigation commenced.

Upon further investigation it was determined the driver held a suspended driver’s licence. The driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Suspended and a search incident to arrest was conducted. Officers searched the driver and the vehicle and a quantity of methamphetamine was discovered inside the vehicle.

Further checks were completed and it was determined the driver was also serving a probation sentence. It was determined by the officers the driver was failing to comply with the conditions of his release.

As a result, 22 year old Colby ROBERTS from Clinton has been charged with two counts of Breach of Probation, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Drive Under Suspension. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on September 15, 2014.
