(MOOSONEE, ON) – On January 29, 2015 the Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an erratic driver on the area of Revillon Road in the Town of Moosonee.
Responding officers observed tire tracks in the freshly fallen snow and followed them to the ice road connecting Moosonee and Moose Factory Island where they observed the suspect vehicle. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop the suspect vehicle lost control and slid to a stop in the snow bank; neither the driver nor the passengers were injured. The driver was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired. He was transported to the Moosonee OPP Detachment for breath tests.
As a result of this investigation, Cody WEISTCHE (28) of Moose Factory Island, has been charged with the following offences:
Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
Driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol
The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on April 7, 2015.
