(COLLINGWOOD, ON.) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male for drinking and driving offences as a result of a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver.
On the 4th of July 2015 shortly after 5:00pm OPP officers received a report of a possible impaired driver on Huron Street in Collingwood. Officers conducted a vehicles stop on First Street near High Street where interactions with the driver found that he was under the influence of alcohol. This led to the driver being subjected to a roadside breath test which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. The male was advised he was under arrest, to which he attempted to flee from police however was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Charged is 22 year-old Cody CRAWFORD of Orangeville, he is facing Criminal Code charges of driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, resist peace officer, fail to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge. As well he is facing a Highway Traffic Act offence of novice driver with blood alcohol concentration above zero and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act offence of fail to surrender insurance card.
He is to appear in Collingwood court on the 13th of August 2015.
