Clinton Shooting Update: Victim Identified

(MUNICIPALITY OF CENTRAL HURON, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Chris Avery of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is continuing to investigate a shooting incident that occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on September 13, 2014 in the vicinity of the Hullett Wildlife Conservation Area.

Investigation has determined that the victim and a female were riding horses in the area when an unknown male approached them and shot the victim. The female sustained minor injuries but was able to get to a place of safety.

The male victim has been identified as 70 year old Donato FRIGO from Caledon East. A post mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days.

A number of OPP resources have been brought in to assist with the investigation including the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the West Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS). At this time, the OPP continues to restrict access to the area where the shooting took place.

The investigation is continuing and further information will be provided when available.
