(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON.) – On June 29, 2015 shortly before 6:45 p.m., the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to assist Norfolk County OPP at the scene of a two vehicle collision on Simcoe Street, west of Highway 3, near the area of the Norfolk Mall.
An officer arrived on scene and exited his vehicle to speak to the involved drivers. At that time a vehicle not involved in the collision was observed exiting the Norfolk Mall entrance at a high rate of speed. The motor vehicle then swerved on the road and almost made contact with the OPP officer standing there.
The vehicle did not stop and the officer initiated a suspect apprehension pursuit (SAP). A short time later the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn on Jackson Side Road in Norfolk County and was involved in a single motor vehicle collision.
No injuries were reported. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently found to be impaired and was arrested. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
