(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 12, 2015 at approximately 6:18 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2004 Dodge Ram pick-up truck for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation on Queen Street East in Fergus, Centre Wellington Township.
Officers detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screen Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
34-year-old Christopher BROOKS of Fergus has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 21, 2015 to answer to his charge.
