(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Thursday, October 16, 2014, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Garafraxa Street at Crawford Street, Chatsworth, in the Township of Chatsworth.
A 9 year old boy standing on the east side of Garafraxa Street ran out from in front of a parked van in an effort to cross the street after he had seen members of his family on the west side of the road.
A driver of a northbound 2011 Ford commercial cube truck swerved in an effort to avoid hitting the youth. The boy struck the front right passenger side of the truck. He was knocked to the ground but was able to get up, right away, on his own.
The child was taken to hospital via ambulance with minor injuries.
Police credit the driver of the truck, a 49 year old male from Owen Sound, for his driving abilities and quick reaction given the situation.
