Chatsworth Mayor Declares State Of Emergency

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), together with the Chatsworth Fire Department and the Township of Chatsworth Roads Department, continue to monitor the situation as to the water levels which caused significant flooding particularly in Williamsford, resulting in the evacuation of eight residences.

Currently, properties in low lying areas around McCullough Lake are at risk. McCullough Lake Drive is under water. Residents are asked to evacuate the area as a safety precaution.

The Williamsford Community Centre is serving as an evacuation centre for those affected.

Highway 6 between Chatsworth Sideroad 5/Walker Sideroad and Chatsworth Road 24 remains closed. Several secondary roads throughout the township, particularly in the former Holland Twp., are also closed due to high water levels.

The Mayor of Chatsworth has declared a State of Emergency for the Township of Chatsworth.

There have been no injuries reported and there are no safety concerns at this time.
