Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – June 5, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 125 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested.

Woman Charged with Break and Enter CK15016181

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning, the woman attended an apartment on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. As the homeowner opened the door, the woman forced her way in and assaulted the homeowner while arguing over a pet cat. The woman stole the homeowner’s jacket, shoes and tanning lotion valued at $370 and fled the area. The 17-year-old homeowner did not require medical attention. The women are known to each other. Around 3:30 p.m. officers located the woman on Grand Avenue West and she was taken into custody. Upon being searched incident to arrest, she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 35-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with break and enter, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and drug possession. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling CK15016195

Shortly after 11:00 a.m. yesterday morning, the man attended an apartment on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. The man kicked the door in and entered the unit while a woman was cleaning. The woman was not injured. Officers located the man in the area and he was taken into custody. Damage to the door was estimated at $300.

The 25-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling and mischief under $5000. He was transported to the court pending a bail hearing.

Woman Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15016266

Last night, officers attended a residence in Dresden and a woman wanted for failing to comply and two counts of failing to attend court was taken into custody. She was also found to be breaching her release conditions by communicating with a specific Dresden man. Officers further learned that the man was bound by several conditions including not to communicate with her or attend that address. He was also taken into custody.

The 51-year-old woman has been charged with failing to comply. The 49-year-old man has been charged with five counts of failing to comply and two counts of breaching his Probation Order. Both have been held pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Trespassing by Night CK15016269

Last night, just before midnight, police responded to the area of Murray Street in Chatham in regards to a suspicious person in the back yard of a residence. Officers located the man and he was taken into custody. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was currently bound by several conditions, including a curfew. The man further admitted that he was no longer living at the address specified on recognizance.

The 37-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with trespassing by night and two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere

Last night, officers conducted a RIDE spot check on Queen Street in Tilbury.

Thirty five vehicles were stopped with no offences being observed.
