Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – July 15, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 101 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.

Youth Charged with Possession of a Stolen Truck CK15020935

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a youth in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle earlier this week.

On July 13, 2015 at 5:15 a.m. police responded to a residence on Churchill Street in Chatham in regards to a stolen copper coloured 2013 Dodge Ram pick-up truck. The truck was last seen with Ontario licence plates AA72 774.

Around 11:15 p.m. police received information that the vehicle was travelling through the north end of Chatham. Officers located the stolen truck parked on Sheldon Avenue. With the assistance of witnesses, police identified the driver. A search of the vehicle also resulted in the youth’s house key being located inside.

Yesterday morning, shortly after 4:00 a.m. officers entered the youth’s apartment with a warrant for his arrest. He was not home despite being bound by a daily curfew.

Around 4:30 p.m. officers located the youth and he was taken into custody.

The 17-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to comply. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of July 27, 2015.

Woman Charged with Theft CK15020949

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a shoplifting complaint in Chatham.

Around 6:15 p.m. last night, the woman entered No Frills on Queen Street and concealed meat and cheese in her purse. The woman was approached by a store employee and held pending the arrival of police. Total value of the theft was approximately $60.

Alexis LeBlanc, 21 years, of Emma Street in Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of August 5, 2015.

Break and Enter CK15020910

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a break and enter in Chatham.

Sometime yesterday between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Wellington Street East. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a black Acer tablet and loose change.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15020933

Around 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a three vehicle collision on Lacroix Street between Lorne Avenue and Richmond Street in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3000.

A 43-year-old Dover Township woman was charged with careless driving.
