Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – July 12, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 108 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people have been arrested.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences

On Saturday, July 11, 2015 at approximately 1:00pm, a man and his girlfriend engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated into a physical altercation which involved the man punching his girlfriend in the face. The girlfriend received minor injuries as a result. Police attended the residence and arrested the man. The girlfriend was transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where she was treated and released.

The 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged with Assault x5, Uttering Threats and Assault with a Weapon. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Breaching Conditions

In March, 2015 a man was placed on conditions by the courts as a result of being charged with a domestic related offence.

On Saturday, July 11, 2015 at approximately 6:00pm, Chatham-Kent Police were called to an address on Dew Drop Road in regards to a report that the male was breaching his conditions. Through investigation it was revealed that the man had been in contact with his partner by driving with him in the same vehicle. The 44-year-old Camden Township man was located at his residence and arrested. He has been charged with failing to comply with a recognizance and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and Enter in Wheatley

On Saturday, July 11, 2015 at approximately 9:30pm, Chatham-Kent Police were called to an address on Erie Street South in Wheatley in regards to a break and enter. Police learned that sometime between July 8 and July 11, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a locked residence and removed a number of items including televisions, power tools and a mattress. The value of the items taken is approximately $7000.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest

On Sunday, July 12, 2015 at approximately 3:00am, police were called to a business on Richmond Street in Chatham regarding a report of a man causing a disturbance. The man left in a vehicle before police arrived but was located and stopped a short distance away. The officer believed that the male had been drinking alcohol and demanded that he provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device. The man refused and was subsequently arrested. During the arrest, the man threatened to kill another officer who was on scene. The man was brought to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and began to fight with officers assaulting two of them. The officers did not suffer any injury.

As a result, the 45-year-old Windsor man has been charged with Refused to Provide Breath Sample, Utter Threats, and Assault Peace Officer x2. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
