Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – July 11, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 116 calls for service in the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.

Break and Enter in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Police were called to a rail yard shed near Keil Drive in Chatham on Friday, July 10, 2015 in regards to a break and enter. Officers noted that suspect(s) cut a lock to gain entry into the shed and a quantity of copper wire was stolen. The theft is believed to have taken place between July 8 and July 10, 2015.

Motor Vehicle Collision Injures Cyclist

On Friday, July 10, 2015 at approximately 2:20 pm, police were called to the intersection of Park Ave. and St. George Street in Chatham in regards to a motor vehicle collision. Officers arrived on scene and located a cyclist that had been struck by a motor vehicle. The cyclist, a 54-year-old male, received only minor injuries and was charged with riding in a crosswalk. Total damages are estimated at approximately $1000.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Howard Township

On Saturday, July 11, 2015 at approximately 2:30 am, Chatham-Kent Police along with Chatham-Kent Fire Department and EMS responded to a roll over vehicle collision on Moore Road in Howard Township. The vehicle involved left the roadway, and stuck a hydro pole causing the vehicle to roll onto its side. A male passenger was ejected from the vehicle, and subsequently transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non- life threatening injuries. The driver was also transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Total damage is estimated at $5000.
