(CHATHAM, ON) Over the weekend, the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 46 calls for service in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
There were various calls for service consisting of traffic complaints, traffic enforcement, traffic hazards, Liquor License Act offences, R.I.D.E., marine and motor vehicle collisions.
On July 15, 2016, around 7:35 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member was on general patrol, on Highway 401, when she observed a vehicle committing a traffic violation.
The vehicle was stopped and upon further investigation, the male driver, Daniel MILLER, 32-years-old from Dresden, ON was charged with drive while under suspension contrary to the highway traffic act.
On July 16, 2016, around 11:10 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Kent Bridge Road.
Upon further investigation, the male driver, Lothar STIEM, 65-year-old of Brampton, Ontario, was charged with drive motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood.
The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 24, 2016 to answer to the charges.
From July 15 to 17, 2016, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while conducting general patrol, on Highway 401, observed six vehicles committing traffic violations.
The vehicles were stopped and upon further investigation, the following drivers were charged:
54-year-old, male driver, Dale GOODMAN, of La Porte, IN;
49-year-old, male driver, Nazih TOUTOUNJI of Dearborn Heights, MI;
64-year-old, male driver, John BERNARD, of Farmington Hills, MI;
34-year-old, female driver, Nadia SHAKIL, of Aurora, IL;
81-year-old, male driver, Sanat BARUA, of Worthington, OH; and
49-year-old, male driver, Douglas OZOLINS, of Alanta, IL,
with Drive Motor Vehicle with Speed Measuring Warning Device contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) want to remind the public that as the weather starts getting warmer more traffic will be appearing on our roadways. The OPP will actively monitor the “Big 4” driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
