Man Charged with Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest CK15024289

Last night around 10:20 p.m. officers located an intoxicated man near the field house at Steinhoff Park in Wallaceburg. The man was causing a disturbance as citizens were trying to watch a soccer game. Officers arrested the man for being intoxicated in a public place. While being escorted to the cruiser, the man became resistant and assaultive towards the officers. The man tried to head-butt the officers and began kicking his legs violently striking both officers. In an effort to gain control of the man, the officers were forced to pepper spray him. Neither officer required medical attention.

Edward Shipman, 45 years, of Walpole Island was charged with assault with intent to resist arrest. He was held in custody until sober and released with conditions pending a future court date of August 25, 2015.

Man Charged with Assault CK15024302

Around 1:00 a.m. the man attended his girlfriend’s home in Chatham in an intoxicated state. The man became verbally aggressive towards her and was asked to leave. The man refused and assaulted the woman. She did not require medical attention. Officers located the man outside the residence and he was taken into custody.

The 20-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault. Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Theft CK15024193

Yesterday morning, a resident of an apartment complex on St. Clair Street in Chatham found the woman sleeping in the stairwell. The resident noticed that the woman was wearing a coat and pair shoes that was stolen from her vehicle.

The 20-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle from Chatham CK15024198

Sometime between August 10, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. and August 11, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a grey 2004 Mazda Tribute from a residence on Sandy Street. Inside the vehicle was a Garmin GPS, Sony tablet, fishing equipment and the homeowner’s wallet. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BWWC 202.

Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15024197

In January 2015, the woman initiated an e-transfer for $250 from her ex-boyfriend’s bank account without his authorization. The woman was charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and fraud under $5000. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Yesterday morning, the woman turned herself in to police headquarters. The 31-year-old Petrolia woman was released with conditions pending a future court date of September 1, 2015.

Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15024298

In May 2015, the woman was charged with fraud under $5000 and uttering a forged document. On July 21, 2015 the woman failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest. Around 12:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed the woman driving a car on William Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Park Avenue in Chatham and the woman was taken into custody.

The 18-year-old Chatham woman was further charged with driving without a license. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of August 25, 2015.
