Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 22Sept2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 150 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.

Police Execute Search Warrant CK16031774 / CK16031809

Last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant in Wallaceburg.

Approximately $5000 worth of marihuana, methamphetamine and cocaine was seized. Two digital scales, two knives, an extendable baton, other drug paraphernalia along with $1160 in cash was also seized.

A 31-year-old woman and 35-year-old man, both of Wallaceburg, were arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of failing to comply and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon. Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police Recover Stolen Motorcycle CK16031792 / CK16031799

On August 16, 2016 a blue 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle was reported stolen from the region of Waterloo.

Yesterday, police received information that a Wallaceburg man was in possession of the stolen motorcycle. Officers attended his residence and recovered the stolen motorcycle behind a dumpster on the property.

The 49-year-old man was arrested and upon being searched incident to arrest, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000 and drug possession. The motorcycle was seized and Waterloo Regional Police were notified that the vehicle had been recovered.

Pair Charged with Personation CK16031813 / CK16031804

While investigating the incident mentioned above, a man and woman were also present on this property. Both falsely identified themselves to police. Through investigation though, officers determined their true identities and learned that they were currently on conditions not to associate with each other.

The 33-year-old Cambridge man and 23-year-old London woman were both arrested and charged with personation and failing to comply. They have both been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16021736

On September 11, 2016 the man and his common-law began arguing which led to a physical altercation. The man assaulted the woman and threatened her. The man fled the area prior to police arrival and a warrant for the offences of assault and uttering threats was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. The 31-year-old Sarnia man was released pending a future court date of October 12, 2016.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16031745

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Blenheim. The man grabbed his pregnant girlfriend in an attempt to get her to stay. Luckily, another resident in the home stepped in to prevent the incident from escalating any further. The man then picked up a chair and threw it towards the stove in the kitchen breaking the glass door and nearby cupboard. The man fled the residence prior to police arrival.

About three hours later, officers located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. The 22-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic Enforcement in Chatham CK16031719

Yesterday morning, police conducted traffic enforcement at the intersection of Keil Drive and Riverview Drive.

Twenty motorists were stopped and warned about making illegal left turns when it is clearly marked that left turns are currently prohibited during this construction phase.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all drivers that disobeying a traffic sign could result in a $110 fine and two demerit points.
