Update: Theft in Chatham CK16002997

On February 5, 2016 around 11:30 a.m. police responded to a theft at the LCBO on Wellington Street. The man entered the store and stole two 60oz bottles of Crown Royal valued at $120.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible. Yesterday morning, Christopher Heeley, 23 years, of Harvey Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of March 2, 2016.

Man Charged with Numerous Domestic Related Offences CK16004379

Last night around 5:30 p.m. the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence in Chatham and damaged her car. Through investigation, the woman revealed that earlier in the month, the man had assaulted her during an argument even though he was currently bound by a Probation Order with several conditions, one being not to communicate with her. While speaking to police, the woman received threatening text messages from the man.

Just before 11:00 p.m. last night, police located the man and he was arrested. Upon being searched incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of a knife.

The 26-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief under $5000, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of uttering threats and four counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16004393

Last night at 10:15 p.m. police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham. At this time, the woman reported that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. He also damaged her cell phone and apartment door. Through investigation, the woman disclosed that this was not the first incident of domestic violence.

Around 11:30 p.m. police located the man and he was arrested. The 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of assault and four counts of mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Youth Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16004303

On February 20, 2016 around 5:30 p.m. the teen was with a group of friends in the area of Merritt Avenue and Crystal Drive in Chatham. The teen pulled a knife out of his pocket and held it up against a boy’s neck. Minutes later he did it again to another boy. Neither boy were physically injured.

Last night around 10:30 p.m. police arrested and charged the 15-year-old Chatham youth with two counts of assault with a weapon. He was released to his mother pending a future court date of March 14, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16004376

Yesterday around 4:15 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle on Poplar Street near Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.

Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $8000.

A 54-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to obey a stop sign.
