The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 128 calls for service in the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.
Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16042435
Earlier this week, an altercation between the man and his ex-girlfriend began at a Chatham home over the ownership of a dog. The man held a hunting knife up to the woman’s chest causing her to leave. Police were not contacted. The woman was not physically injured.
Last night, the man attended an address in Chatham asking to speak with the woman. The man was in possession of a pocket knife and standing in an intimidating manner. Police were called and the man fled the area.
The 18-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested a short time later. He has been charged with assault with a weapon. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK16042474
Shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into Church’s Army and Outdoor Store on Thames Street. Damage to the front doors has been estimated at $500.
An Airsoft assault rifle valued at $185 was stolen along with multiple hunting / army knives.

Motor Vehicle Collisions
CK16042388 – Shortly after 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a collision on Tecumseh Road near Phyllis Avenue in Chatham. A 21-year-old Chatham woman struck a parked car causing $4000 damage. No one was injured. She was charged with careless driving.
CK16042470 – Last night, just before 11:00 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Elgin Street near Dauw Avenue in Wallaceburg. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $3000. A 58-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
