Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 10Nov2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 127 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Man Breaches Release Conditions CK16038171

On August 4, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Early this morning, around 4:20 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man riding a bicycle eastbound on Tweedsmuir Avenue.

The 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16038062

On July 10, 2016 the man was released from custody for the offences of theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.

On October 21, 2016, the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Anthony Ermatinger, 34 years, of Walpole Island was released pending a future court date of November 25, 2016.

Traffic Enforcement CK16038096

Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on King Street in Wallaceburg. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation, learned that the license plates were not registered to the vehicle, the man’s license was suspended for a novice violation and that the vehicle was uninsured.

The 25-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with driving while under suspension, being a G1 license holder and unaccompanied by a qualified driver, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program. He will be required to attend court on November 30, 2016.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16038069

Sometime yesterday morning between 7:50 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Grand Avenue East causing approximately $200 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a black 15” LG laptop, black 17” Toshiba laptop, 2 USB memory sticks, pair of Sony DJ head phones, 3 speakers, various hand tools and frozen food from the freezer. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $3500.

Theft in Wheatley CK16038071

Sometime between November 8, 2016 at 11:00 p.m. and November 9, 2016 at 7:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Little Street and stole a black Acer laptop valued at $500.

Theft of Tools in Chatham CK16038060

Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked shed on Copperfield Drive.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole 3 Makita drills, 2 DeWalt drills, a Makita sawzall and a white boy’s Schwinn mountain bike. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1200.
