(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has been investigating a series of retail robberies and has laid a series of charges in that investigation.
On October 9, 2015, at approximately 5:15 am, two male suspects entered a convenience store situated along the 4000 block of Bridle Path Dr. The suspects disguised and armed with knives, demanded cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The suspects made off with a quantity of these items to a vehicle. That vehicle, later determined to be stolen, was located a short time later by a patrol officer. The driver was arrested however the passenger fled on foot and remains at large.
The suspect(s) were linked to a series of other similar retail robberies that were under investigation:
Convenience store-4000 block of Bridle Path Dr- Sept 29, 2015 at 0340 hrs
Convenience store 1100 block of Bank St- Oct 2, 2015 at 0555 hrs
Convenience store 1100 block of Bank St- Oct 4, 2015 at 0411 hrs
Gas station-800 block of Carling Ave- Oct 4, 2015 at 0603 hrs
Convenience store 1400 block of Highgate Rd- Oct 6, 2015 at 0537 hrs
Nathan Gagnon, age 31 of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:
Six (6) counts of robbery
Six (6) counts of wearing a disguise
Six(6) counts of possession of weapon dangerous to the public
Assault
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
Unlawfully at Large
Mr. Gagnon appeared in court on Oct. 10, 2015, and was remanded into custody. He appears next on October 16, 2015.
