Charges laid following a retail robbery on Montreal Road

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid a number of charges in relation to a robbery of a smoke shop on Montreal Road.

On Friday, December 19, 2014, at approximately 9:05pm, a lone male entered a smoke shop situated along the 0-100 block of Montreal Road. The suspect entered the store wearing a ski mask and brandished a knife. A demand was made for cash, and the suspect fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect was located in the area by responding patrol officers a short time later and was arrested without incident.

Daniel RUSEMSTROM, 49 years old of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:

Robbery with offensive weapon
Wearing a disguise
Possession of a weapon
Breach Probation
Possession of Schedule I substance
He remained in custody and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 22, 2014.
