(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 14, 2014, just before 5:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a complaint of a Mercedes vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 westbound, near Scane Side Road.
A Chatham-Kent OPP officer who was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 observed the westbound vehicle which appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of 162 km/hr.
Altaf SOORTY, age 55, from Willowdale, ON, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Speeding by 50 or More Kilometres Per Hour, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
