Changes to Police Record Check

Monday, January 20, 2014

Effective February 1, 2014, the London Police Service will no longer offer the Police Criminal Record Check (PCRC). This level of record check is a confirmation of criminal record information only.

The London Police Service will offer two types of record checks; the Police Information Check (PIC) and the Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

The Police Information Check (PIC) – includes criminal convictions, outstanding charges, non-convictions, current judicial orders and police involvement.

The Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) – includes criminal convictions, outstanding charges, non-convictions, current judicial orders, police involvement, a query of the pardoned database (for sexual based offences) and mental health act occurrences.

Further information on selecting the correct level of record check for employment or volunteers can be found on the London Police Service website (www.police.london.ca)

Individuals that require confirmation of criminal record information only, may obtain a certified copy directly from the RCMP by submitting their fingerprints to the RCMP through a private fingerprint company.

The closest RCMP accredited private fingerprint company is the Commissionaires Great Lakes, located at 1730 Dundas Street, London, (519) 438-4336.
