Central Hastings Press Releases

(Tweed, ON) – On December 31, 2015 at 6:40 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a traffic complaint involving a vehicle travelling northbound on Highway # 37. The vehicle entered the Village of Tweed where it subsequently struck a hydro pole on Jamieson Street.

As a result of the investigation by responding officers, the driver of the vehicle 35 year old Natalie JENKINS of Tweed, ON was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

She received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. She will appear in Ontario Court of Justice – Belleville on January 21, 2016.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

THEFT FROM UNLOCKED VEHICLE

(Tweed, ON) – On December 2, 2015 members of Central Hastings O.P.P received a theft complaint on Minnie Avenue in the Municipality of Tweed. The homeowner reported that on December 29, 2015 sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. a Global Positioning System (GPS) and a KOBO digital reading device were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

SUSPENDED DRIVER CHARGED AFTER COLLISION

(Madoc, ON) – On January 1, 2016 at 11:20 a.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P. responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway # 62 just north of Highway # 7 in Madoc Township.

A vehicle travelling southbound on Highway # 62 made a right turn into a parking lot where it struck another vehicle. The driver was found to be driving while his licence was suspended. As a result the 24 year old man of Madoc, ON was charged with Drive Under Suspension and Turn Not In Safety under the Highway Traffic Act. No injuries were reported.
