Central Hastings OPP Nab 90 Speeders!

Between June 26, 2015 to July 1, 2015 Canada Day holiday members of Central Hastings O.P.P continued to focus their enforcement efforts on driving behaviours relating to aggressive driving, distracted driving, impaired driving and seatbelt use.

As a result officers issued 90 speeding, 6 Drive- Handheld Communication Device (cell phone), 5 Insurance Act contraventions and 13 other Highway Traffic Act charges.

On the June 27, 2015 just after midnight officers conducted a RIDE program on Flinton Road in the Municipality of Tweed. Officers dealt with a driver who had been consuming alcohol and he subsequently registered a warning on the roadside screening device. As a result the 28 year old man of Flinton, ON was given a 3 day driver’s license suspension and his vehicle was towed.

Officers also investigated five motor vehicle collisions including one involving a pedestrian being struck in the Village of Tweed. On June 26, 2015 at 3:20 p.m. officers responded to Victoria St N and Jamieson St after a 69 year old Tweed woman was hit by a van while crossing at the crosswalk. As a result the driver, a 76 year old Madoc, ON woman was charged with Failing to Yield to Pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act. The pedestrian was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
