A 55 year old Chatham male has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act after a single motor vehicle collision which took place at approx. 9:45 am on Saturday 11 January 2014. A Ford pick-up truck left the roadway at Merlin Road and McDougall Line Tilbury East Twp. Vehicle struck and knocked down a hydro pole bringing down lines and causing a local power disruption in that area. The lone occupant was not injured. The roadway was closed for a period of time while crews repaired the down lines. Total costs are not yet known.
