CAR SEAT CLINIC OFFERED TODAY

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.), along with the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit and the Chatham-Kent Police Service will be hosting a Car Seat Clinic today.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of injury-related deaths among children and youth. A correctly used child restraint will reduce the likelihood of a child being injured or killed in a crash by up to 75%.

Car Seat safety check results from across Canada indicate that 4 out of 5 children are not properly restrained. Common mistakes include: Child not in the appropriate restraint; Child not harnessed in the restraint correctly; Seat belts/UAS not tight enough or can’t hold the Car Seat; and/or, Tether straps not used or used incorrectly.

Members of the public are encouraged to bring along their Car Seats and questions and will be able to meet a Car Seat Technician. Advice will be provided on all three stages of Car Seats: Rear, Forward and Booster.

The Car Seat Clinic will be held today Tuesday April 15, 2014 at the following location:

Victory Ford, 301 Richmond Street, Chatham 10:30am-1:00pm

The Clinic is free, and no appointment is required.
