(KEARNEY, ON) – On Sunday August 2, 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Kearney Fire Department responded to a capsized canoe on Grass Lake.
OPP investigation revealed that two men were boating in a canoe when their boat capsized and neither was wearing a personal flotation device. One male was able to swim to shore, the other, 27 year old Michael YENOVKIAN of Toronto Ontario was later found deceased by the OPP Under Water Search and Recovery Unit. No foul play is suspected.
The Almaguin Highlands OPP would like to remind everyone to wear their lifejackets at all times when boating.
