At the 08Feb2016 North Huron budget meeting, independent recording of the meeting was officially banned. To prove how utterly absurd and unenforceable this law is, at least one volunteer was wearing hidden cameras. These cameras are concealed in pens, lighters, belt buckles, hats, watches, key fobs, etc. etc. Just search ebay for “spy camera” and you will see hidden cameras for as low as $6.
At the budget meeting, the number of cameras in the room outnumbered the people in the room. The truth is you could sit beside the chief of police, or a few feet away from him or a councillor, and they would have absolutely no idea you were video recording them.
All of bill “ss” knott’s effort to ban cameras was a complete and utter waste of time, and only proved that North Huron council has something major to hide, and more questions and cameras are needed.
The next budget meeting is Wednesday 10Feb2016, 7pm at Wingham Town Hall.
