On November 15, 2010 at approximately 1:30 pm a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on MacDonald Road when a vehicle approaching in the opposite direction caught his eye as it crossed over into the officers’ lane twice. The officer stopped the motor vehicle and upon speaking to the driver, immediately detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage. After speaking with the male driver, the officer formed the grounds that he was impaired by alcohol and arrested him.
The male was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two samples of his breath. The results of the tests confirmed that the driver had approximately two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
As a result of the traffic stop and investigation, Calvin WILLARD (51) of South Huron was charged with one count of Impaired Driving and one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He is scheduled to answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on December 16, 2010. His licence has been suspended for 90 days as per statute.
