CALEDON OPP YOUTH LEADERSHIP CAMP WAS A SUCCESS

(CALEDON, ON) – Between August 5th and August 8th, 2014, fifteen Caledon youths participated in the annual Caledon OPP Youth Leadership Camp. Students had the opportunity to interact with police officers from the Caledon Detachment while participating in community based activities. The students collected 2100 lbs. of non-perishable food items and supplies for “The Exchange”, raised $650.00 in a community car wash for Caledon OPP’s “Shop with a Cop” program and graffiti removal/garbage pickup in the Valleywood area.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Caledon students. The youths get to interact with police officers in a positive way while giving back to their community. This community engagement program has been very successful in Caledon for several years due in part to generous donations by some our community partners: Zehrs, Home Depot and the Town of Caledon. We continue to engage our youth to be civic minded while enjoying a rare opportunity to develop relationships with our officers”, Inspector Tim Melanson.
