Bruce Peninsula Residents Scammed Out Of $80,000 So Far This Year

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have been taking a proactive approach in fighting Frauds.

Too many incidents have been reported over the past year with residents reporting the different fraud attempts over the phone and through computers. With over $80 000 dollars having been scammed from the Bruce Peninsula OPP detachment area since January of this year; officers are assisting the public on a daily basis on how to prevent and report frauds. Over the past couple of weeks, Officers have been handing out hundreds of Fraud and Crime Prevention information at R.I.D.E. checks (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere); to ensure as many members of the public are aware of how and where to go for information and assistance.

“There remain those members of society who chose to try and take advantage of others for financial gain. If you are unsure, reach out to a trusted source before divulging any information,” said Detachment Commander, Staff Sergeant Wayne Thompson, from the Bruce Peninsula OPP.
