(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) A Whitby area resident had her vehicle towed and faces two Highway Traffic Act related offences after being stopped by an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer.
On August 4, 2013 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at 133km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 35, within the City of Kawartha Lakes and subsequently stopped the vehicle.
The officer administered a breath test using the approved screening device after determining that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The novice driver registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above zero and was charged accordingly. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
As a result of the investigation Brittany DAVIES, 20 years of age, of Whitby, was charged with stunt driving and novice driver – BAC above zero. The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on September 10, 2013.
