Brian IUNG – 172 in a 100

(PORT HOPE, ON) – On January 1, 2015 just before midnight, a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Port Hope area when an eastbound vehicle was ‘clocked’ at 172 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. When the officer stopped the Pontiac Grand Prix, he noted there were six occupants with the extra person lying across the rear passengers. Also several cans of beer strewn around and evidence of drug use.

A subsequent search of the car revealed what the officer believed to be marihuana in zip lock baggies. Both the driver and front passenger were arrested.

Charged with Possession of a Schedule II substance (marihuana) Over 30 grams are:

Brian IUNG age 19 of North York (driver) and Walter ZELEDON age 33 of Toronto.

IUNG also faces a charge of stunt driving. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 7 days.

Both were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg February 18, 2015.

The other four occupants were all charged with liquor offences.
