(LAMBTON, ON) – On Monday March 21st, 2016, at approximately 8:18 p.m., while on routine patrol, a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a pick-up truck driving in an erratic manner, traveling westbound on Lakeshore Road, Municipality of Lambton Shores.
The OPP member, while traveling westbound on Lakeshore Road, initially observed the motor vehicle approaching in the rear view mirror. The officer observed the vehicle being operated in what appeared to be an erratic manner. The officer pulled off the roadway to allow the motor vehicle to pass and then proceeded to follow the motor vehicle along Lakeshore Road. The officer continued to observe the motor vehicle being operated in an erratic manner and conducted a traffic stop on Lakeshore Road in the area of Cedar Point Line.
Police made contact with the male driver and shortly after formed the opinion that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The male party was consequently arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Forest Detachment for breath testing. However while at the detachment, the driver of the motor vehicle refused to provide breath samples.
As a result, 53 year-old, Carman BRESSETTE of Sarnia, ON was charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired
Fail or refuse to Provide Sample
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday April 25th, 2016.
The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
