BREAK AND ENTERS-UPDATE-TWO MORE ARRESTS

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Kenora Detachment Street Crimes Unit and the Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) have charged two adults with firearms and property related offences following a search warrant executed in Kenora on June 20, 2014.

On Monday June 9, 2014 shortly after 12:00 noon the Kenora OPP received a call that a home in Lakeside had been broken into sometime between May 29 and June 9, 2014. Unknown suspect(s) had forced entry to the home and stolen various items including alcohol and jewelry. Police later learned that a number of firearms were also stolen from the residence.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, police obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence on Heenan Place in the City of Kenora on June 20, 2014. Police located a 20 gauge shotgun in the residence that was reported stolen from the June 9 Lakeside break in.

Two adults were arrested at the residence. As a result, 23 year old Naiche KEESIC (male) of Kenora has been charged with Knowingly Possess an Unauthorized Firearm contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code (CC), Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime contrary to section 96(a) CC and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC.

Also charged is 24 year old Danielle LOON of Kenora. She is facing charges of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm contrary to section 86(2) CC, Knowingly Possess an Unauthorized Firearm contrary to section 92(1) CC, Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime contrary to section 96(a) CC and Possess a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC.

They have been held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 26, 2014 in Kenora Court.
