(HASTINGS, ON) – Excerpt from Weekly News Brief: June 19, 2015
Police are investigating two separate incidents involving the Beer and Liquor Stores in Hastings. On Sunday morning (June 14th) at 3:43am an alarm was registered at the Beer Store. Responding officers discovered that the premises had been broken in to and four cases of beer stolen. The suspects were gone when police arrived. Today, (June 16) Liquor store employees discovered that someone had damaged their roof in an apparent attempt to gain entry. This incident is believed to have occurred on the same night as the Beer Store which was entered via the roof. The OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) is assisting with the investigations which are ongoing.
As a result of an investigation by Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Street Response Team (SRT), the following persons have been arrested and charged with two counts of Break & Enter and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000:
1) Taylor HOOCK age 26 of Cobourg, Ontario
2) Trevor KOTZMA age 19 of Peterborough, Ontario
Both men were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on August 4, 2015.
