Break and Enter – Tools and Generator Stolen

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding residents to immediately contact police if they observe suspicious activity after police investigated a break and enter at a 2nd Concession Road, South Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

Between Friday, December 26, 2014 and Sunday, December 28, 2014, unknowns attended the Backus Mills Conservation area and proceeded to tamper with the locks that were located on the entrance gates. Once inside, unknowns entered two garden sheds located on one of the sites and removed a Honda generator, Stihl chainsaw, tool chest, two tents, 12 volt deep cycle battery, an inverter and approximately 8 light fixtures.

The value is estimated at approximately $5,750 dollars.

The OPP encourage property owners to make frequent checks of their vacation property during the “off-season” to ensure everything is secure. If travel time limits the number of opportunities to check in, arrangements should be made with a trusted friend or campground affiliate who will randomly check your property for you. This tried and tested method is the best deterrent against crime.

The OPP continue to appeal to persons living in and around trailer parks and/or cottages to report any and all suspicious activity to police when it happens. The OPP will remain committed to cottage and trailer security and maintain the Cottage Watch Program.
