(GEORGIAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial (OPP) have investigated nine separate break and enters to cottages between February 2, 2015 and July 7, 2015. The break and enters have taken place to cottages that are water access only in the Honey Harbour area on the waters of Georgian Bay.
Three of the break and enters took place in the winters months between February 2nd and February 14, 2015. These cottages were broken into and damage was done and personal items were stolen. Some of the items stolen from these break and enters include, tools, chainsaw, televisions, ice auger, Honda generator, and air rifles. Members of the public reported seeing snowmobiles in the area.
On June 16, 2015 several cottages on Little Beausoleil Island had been entered however nothing was stolen or damaged. The information provided to officers was that a 14 to 18 foot bow rider type boat, white in colour with red and blue striping and a black outboard motor was seen in the area. Three teenagers were stopping at the cottages in this boat and entering the cottages.
Several more cottages were broken into in the area of Little Dog Channel and Georgian Bay Shore on the waters of Georgian Bay. Minor damage was done to these cottages and items such as alcohol, televisions, pellet gun, Sony boom box were stolen.
