On the 29th of January 2014, Barrie Police attended a residence in the north west end of the city that had been broken into. Upon investigation it was revealed that the suspect attended to the front door of the residence in order to ascertain if anyone was home. The suspect then walked around to the side door and forced entry into the home which was unoccupied at the time of the offence.
It appeared the suspect was looking for cash and jewellery as the residence was ransacked and possibly only smaller items taken.
Barrie Police Identification unit attended the residence and were able to obtain evidence that may assist in identifying the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
Police would like to remind citizens that if they notice strange behaviour within their neighbourhoods to please contact police and report it.
