Break and Enter

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding residents to immediately contact police if they observe suspicious activity after police investigated a break and enter at a Norfolk County Road 45, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the early morning hours, unknowns attended the Deer Creek Conservation area and proceeded to damage a section of the fence to the park with a motor vehicle. Unknowns then forcibly entered a trailer located on the property. Once inside, unknowns removed a jar of pickles and a large container of Kraft peanut butter.

Damage to the trailer is estimated at approximately $2,000 dollars.

The OPP encourage property owners to make frequent checks of their vacation property to ensure everything is secure. If travel time limits the number of opportunities to check in, arrangements should be made with a trusted friend or campground affiliate who will randomly check your property for you. This tried and tested method is the best deterrent against crime.

The OPP continue to appeal to persons living in and around trailer parks and/or cottages to report any and all suspicious activity to police when it happens. The OPP will remain committed to cottage and trailer security and maintain the Cottage Watch Program.

Anyone with information regarding any break and enter occurrence should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1 – 888 – 310 – 1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1 – 800 – 222 – 8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous online message at www.helpsolvecrime.com where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
