Brantford Police Daily News Release – 27Nov2017

Type: Impaired

Incident: 17-45359

Location: Allwood Drive

Incident: On Sunday November 26, 2017 just before 2:00 a.m. Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call about a single motor vehicle collision on Allwood Drive. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area and located a vehicle that had been involved in a collision and was on the front property of an Allwood Drive residence. Officers spoke to the driver who displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the police station where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law. The accused refused to provide the samples. A 38 year old Brantford man is charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired and Refuse to Provide Breath Sample. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.

Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days.

Type: Assault – Arrest

Incident: 17-45369

Location: Ontario Street

Incident: On Sunday November 26, 2017 just after 6:00 a.m. the Brantford Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on Ontario Street. The homeowners reported that a family member and their boyfriend had come to the residence; they were asked to leave but refused. The homeowners tried to get the two accused to leave when accused #1 began to threaten the homeowners, kicked in the front door to the residence and began to assault them. Accused # 2 smashed out a window to the residence and also assaulted one of the homeowners. The two accused fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victims received non-life threatening injures as a result of the incident. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area where the accused were arrested without incident a short distance away. During the arrest, accused #1 was found to be in possession of a knife, brass knuckles a BB gun and a controlled substance. It was also discovered he was bound by three court orders. Accused #1 a 18 year old Ohsweken man is charged with Mischief to Property under $5000.00, Assault, Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Breach of Probation x2 and Breach of a Prohibition Order under the Criminal Code. He was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. A 16 year old Ohsweken woman is charged with Mischief to Property under $5000.00 and Assault under the Criminal Code. The two accused were held for a bail hearing.

Incident: 17-45405

Location: Murray Street

Incident: On Sunday November 26, 2017 just after 12:00 p.m. a concerned citizen contacted the Brantford Police Service about two males that were fighting in the area of Murray Street and Colborne Street and that one of the males had a knife. Community Patrol Officers attended to the area. The suspects had fled the area prior to police arrival. Police searched the area for the suspects and located an individual who matched the description of one of the males who had had the knife. The male was arrested without incident. With the assistance of the BPS K-9 Unit a knife was located hidden a short distance away. During the investigation it was discovered that the accused was bound by three court orders. Brendon Patrick Gosse a 38 year old Brantford man is charged with Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Breach of Probation x3 under the Criminal Code. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Incident: 17-45487

Location: King George Road

Incident: On Monday November 27, 2017 just after 2:00 a.m. Community Patrol Officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on King George Road. Officers performed a traffic stop and spoke to the driver. The driver showed signs of impairment and was issued a demand for a roadside screening device. The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested for Impaired Operation Over 80. The accused was transported to the police station where he was to provide two samples of his breath as required by law. The accused samples were over the legal limit. A 24 year old Brantford man is charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle Over 80. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.

Further the accused licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle being driven by the accused was impounded for 7 days.
