Incident: On June 24, 2015 at around 11:15 a.m. the CN Police contacted the Brantford Police Service for assistance regarding a possible trespasser on a now stopped train. BPS attended and arrested a man in regards to trespassing. It is believed that the man travelled from the Sarnia area on top of the train. The 31 year old non-resident of Brantford was turned over to the CN Police authorities for a continuation of the investigation. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
What you NEVER should do around trains and railway property.
NEVER take shortcuts on or around train tracks – it is dangerous.
NEVER throw things at trains – you could hurt someone.
NEVER put objects on train tracks – they can fly off and hurt someone – maybe you.
NEVER walk in front of or behind a stopped train – it could move suddenly.
NEVER walk or climb between parked railway cars – they can move at any time and
you can get hurt
NEVER enter open boxcars – the doors can shut suddenly and trap you there.
NEVER use railway tunnels and bridges as shortcuts – a train can come at any time.
Remember – when it comes to train tracks – Stay off! Stay Away! Stay Alive!

Type: Fraud
Incident # 15-19926
Date: June 24, 2015
Location: St Paul Avenue
Incident: On June 24, 2015 at around 11:00 a.m. a 76 year old woman received a telephone call from a man pretending to be her bank manager. The man advised that he was involved in an ongoing internal investigation and had asked her specific questions regarding her bank withdrawals from last month. The fraudster ‘bank manager’ convinced the victim that something was wrong with her bank account and requested her assistance with the internal investigation. The victim was directed to attend her bank in Brantford and withdraw money from one of the bank tellers. The woman was than directed to attend a grocery store on St Paul Avenue with the funds in an envelope and she will be met by a man who is involved in the investigation. The woman provided her vehicle description and met the suspect in a parking lot on St Paul Avenue. The woman returned home and received another telephone call from the bank manager, advising that they now believe there are two suspects involved with the internal theft at the bank and requested that she attend the same bank, yet a different branch and withdraw more funds from her bank account. The victim met the same suspect this time at a parking lot on Lynden Road.
The suspect is described as a white man wearing eye glasses, a dark coloured cloth cap, average height and clean shaven.
The woman is the victim of a fraud of just under $10,000.
The BPS is releasing details of this crime to bring awareness and prevent another victim of this scam.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM BEING A VICTIM OF FRAUD:
• Never give out personal information/credit card information to an unknown source over the telephone and/or unsecured email
• You can stop a telephone scam by hanging up
• When contacted about your personal accounts never confirm personal bank account information on the phone
• Confirm with family members or your bank before transferring any funds
• Never agree to give cash to anyone unknown to
