A robber picked the wrong store to rob onWednesday March 9, 2016. At 1:48pm as a uniformed officer was patrolling immediately around the corner from the robbery. Police received a 9-1-1 call that a robbery had just taken place with one male, who had a weapon and was wearing a black bandana, blue jeans, black hoodie and had a knife. The patrol officer pulled up and was told that the robber was fleeing westbound on Grey Street.
The officer pulled up to the male and ordered him not to move. The male was arrested and handcuffed without incident. Cash taken from the robbery along with the knife and the bandana were found upon searching the accused. As well, the male had a fresh abrasion on his right elbow, consistent with the male falling onto asphalt as seen by witnesses at the first robbery.
It was then determined that the knife in relation to this robbery was also similar in relation to the previous robbery earlier in the day on Linden Ave.

A 31 yr old Brantford man has been charged with two counts of Robbery, two counts of Disguise with Intent , and two counts of Possession of Weapons Dangerous. The male is to attend a bail hearing this morning.

FLOOD WATCH – Grand River Watershed
Mar 10, 2016
The warm temperatures that moved into the watershed earlier this week have melted much of the remaining snow. Flows in water courses across the watershed have increased in response to runoff from snowmelt.
The seven day weather forecast calls for double digit day time high temperatures and overnight temperatures at or above zero degrees to continue for the next seven days. This will melt any remaining snow. Rain is forecast to move into the watershed this evening and into tomorrow. Forecast rainfall totals vary from 15 to 25 mm.
A flood watch is called at this time. Flooding of low lying areas that typically flood can be expected over the next few days however major flooding of roads or structures is not anticipated at this time. Whether more serious flooding occurs will depend on the amount of rainfall over the next 48 hours. Conditions are being monitored closely.
The major reservoirs are being used to reduce downstream flooding and are being filled to their spring operating levels. Reservoirs are being filled a bit earlier than normal due to the loss of the snow pack and earlier than normal spring conditions.
The public is reminded to exercise extreme caution around rivers, streams, and water bodies. Any remaining ice cover will be severely eroded due to rain and thaw, and riverbanks will be wet and slippery . While air temperatures may be well above normal, water temperatures are still just above freezing which can cause hypothermia and death in a few minutes.
This message will remain in effect until noon on Friday, March 11, 2016. Updated flood messages will be issued as conditions develop.
Current information on warnings and river conditions can be found on the GRCA’s website at www.grandriver.ca in the Newsroom” and “River data” sections. “
