Brantford Crime Briefs – 09Nov2016

Type: Theft – Male wanted

Locations: Lynden Road

Incident: On November 8, 2016 at 4pm a theft occurred at the LCBO on Lynden Road. The culprit stole alcohol and then made his escape on a E-Bike. Police viewing the video immediately identified the male whom they have had numerous interactions with (arrested six times this year aIone). The male, already wanted by another police service for a theft is being sought by police in Brantford as well.

Type: Noise Complaint

Locations: Marlborough Street

Incident: Brantford Police responded to a noise complaint at 12:15am after neighbours on Marlborough Street reported a lone female in the street yelling. Officers located the upset female who did not need medical nor police assistance.

The female advised the officers that she was very upset that Donald Trump had won the US election and was displaying her frustration.

The 44 yr old female was warned about the nose complaint and sent back inside.

Type: Arrest -Breach

Locations: Market Street South

Incident: On Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at 130am police were sent to a restaurant after a customer at the bar began upsetting the bartender. Upon arrival, police located the man who was still at the bar and drinking beer.

Information was received that the male is currently bound by a recognizance with the condition of his release to not to be outside his residence with alcohol in his body.

As a result a 33 yr old Brantford man stands charged with Breach of Recognizance. The accused has been held for bail.

Type: Arrest – Arson

Locations: West Street

Incident: On Wednesday November 9th, 2016, at 100 A.M., Brantford Police received information that a male was setting fire to a pickup truck on West Street. Police immediately attended and found the male who had deliberately set the vehicle on fire which resulted in the truck sustaining burnt marks to the body and gas tank opening. The truck was parked directly beside a building and if not extinguished could have resulted in a building fire. The male was arrested and gave a false name to police. Once confronted about his true identity the male began threatening the officer and threatened to start more fires throughout the city once released from jail. No persons were injured and the truck (sustaining burn marks on the side near the gas tank opening) was still operable.

As a result of this investigation, the 43 yr old Brantford male stands charged with Arson Damage to Property,Possession of Incendiary Material, Obstruct Police Officer, Uttering Threats to People, Uttering Threats to Property, and Mischief Endangering Life and will be appearing for a bail hearing this morning.
