(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday February 19, 2014, shorlty after 1 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on a Ford SUV in Tavistock. The SUV pulled over and as the officer walked towards the vehicle, it sped away at a high rate of speed. It was last observed heading South on Hwy 59.
On Wednesday afternoon the Oxford County OPP located the undamaged Ford SUV in a ditch along the 15th Line near Road 84 in Zorra Twp. Shortly thereafter, the registered owner of the SUV reported the vehicle stolen to police. Continuing investigation revealed that the SUV had been operated by the registered owner.
Brandon HADDEN (26) of the Township of Perth East has been charged with “flight while pursued by peace officerâ€Â, and “fail to comply with recognizanceâ€Â. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on March 31, 2014 to answer to the charges.
