(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 01, 2016 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a shoplifting incident in progress at Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township. Walmart staff advised police that a female had failed to pay for items, including electronics and cosmetics. Police located the female suspect with a male party in a car in the parking lot of the business. Both were found to be in possession of drugs and taken into custody. As a result Brandon CHREST, age 24 of Laurentian Valley Township, and Christa Catherine HIER, age 25 of Pembroke, are both charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl
In addition to the CDSA charges the female also faces the following Criminal Code charges:
Theft Under $5000
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Both parties were released on a Promise To Appear and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 28, 2016.
