Blind River OPP Press Releases

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On January 5, 2016 at 1:08 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Causley Street in the town of Blind River and conducted a traffic stop.

The investigation revealed the driver was suspended. Gerald MUSSEAU, 40 years of age, from Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland, was charged with:

Driving Under Licence of other Jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario, contrary to section 36 of the Highway Traffic Act;

Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on March 23, 2016.

OPP LOCATES STOLEN PICKUP FROM SOUTHERN ONTARIO

(SPANISH, ON) – On January 5, 2016 at 9:30 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties. OPP observed a westbound vehicle on Highway 17 in the town of Spanish and conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of the stop, it was determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from West Perth. The driver was arrested and found to be in possession of a stolen wallet and cash. Also, found in the vehicle was Cannabis Marihuana. The driver Bradley DEBLOCK, 27 years of age, from West Perth, Ontario was charged with the following:

Possession Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (2 counts); and with

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused appeared in Bail court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on January 6, 2016.

OPP CHARGE SUSPENDED DRIVER

(SERPENT RIVER, ON) – On January 5, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore.

At 2:45 p.m., officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17. A traffic stop was initiated and the investigation revealed the driver was suspended. Jonathan ANTOINE, 37 years of age, from Sudbury, Ontario, was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle while Suspended contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused will appeared the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on March 23, 2016.
