BECHARD – Impaired Driving, Drive While Disqualified

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TWP, ON) –On April 10, 2016 at 10:25pm the Northumberland detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a grey Toyota Yaris driving erratically in the Grafton area. The vehicle was observed to be driving in oncoming lanes and at one point entered a ditch on Station Road then drove out continuing along to County Road 2 where it was stopped by police near Archer Road.

The driver showed signs of being impaired by alcohol at which point she was arrested and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests. Open liquor was found in the vehicle.

As a result of these tests, Beatrice BECHARD age 76 of Castleton, Ontario is charged with the following offences:

Impaired Care and Control of a motor vehicle

Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample

Driving while Disqualified

She was held until sober then released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on May 4, 2016.
