Occurrence Type: Robbery Foiled by Customer Entering Store and Calling 911

On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 8:50pm Police were called to Maple Convenience located at 38 Dunlop Street West, in the City of Barrie, for a robbery. The suspect entered the store with his toque pulled down low and a scarf pulled up over his face, demanding the cash from the register.
The initial call to Police had been from another patron who walked in on the robbery and spooked the crook, foiling his plan at collecting the cash. The suspect immediately left the store with no money in hand, travelling eastbound Dunlop Street West but was caught by Police a short four minutes later.
The 28 year old Barrie male was charged with Robbery and Disguise to Intent and was held at the Barrie Police Service for a bail hearing on Thursday, January 21, 2016.
Occurrence Type: Female Over Double the Legal Limit

On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 3:30am Police were on general patrol in the downtown Dunlop Street area, in the City of Barrie. The officer noticed a vehicle driving westbound on Dunlop Street West at a very low rate of speed. The vehicle was observed pulling into Crossovers Adult Entertainment Lounge, located at 428 Dunlop Street West where the officer initiated the vehicle stop. The officer immediately detected the female driver was under the influence of alcohol and his observations were confirmed when she failed the roadside test.
The 19 year old Wasaga Beach female was arrested and taken back to the Barrie Police Service for further testing where she blew over double the legal limit. Her car was towed to be impounded for 7 days, her license suspended for 90 days and she spent the rest of the night in a cell until sober. She was released in the morning on a Promise to Appear with a future court date in February.
